John Marshall Pre-Law Society

The John Marshall Pre-Law Society (JMPLS) is an official UT Dallas pre-law organization that promotes understanding of the law, helps members enter the legal profession, and encourages scholarship and leadership.  

JMPLS holds monthly events that provide information on the law school application process, opportunities for networking with legal professionals, and guidance on how to best prepare for a career in law.

Edward Zhang, President of John Marshall Pre-Law Society 

Edward Zhang is a senior Economics major with a minor in Philosophy. Edward is the President of the John Marshall Pre-Law Society and a member of the prestigious Mock Trial team. In his spare time, he enjoys climbing, collecting records, and beating his roommates in chess. He is very excited to show what JMPLS has to offer this semester! 

Women Pursuing Law

Women Pursuing Law (WPL) aims to provide resources specifically geared toward empowering women in law, politics, and social justice. In an industry where women face unique obstacles, such as gender inequality, WPL will be a source of information, education, and inspiration to help future female leaders confidently enter the field.  

WPL offers various programs and services, including mentoring, networking, professional development, and advocacy. Joining WPL is an excellent way for women to connect with other women in the legal profession, gain access to valuable resources, and gain the support and guidance needed to succeed in the field.

Kavya Venugopalan, President of Women Pursuing Law  

Kavya Venugopalan is a senior majoring in Economics with minors in International Political Economy and Political Science. She has served on the Women Pursuing Law board in other positions including Podcast Host, Head of Finance, and Vice President until she stepped into her current role of President. Kavya is also a member of Moot Court and enjoys reading in her free time. She is excited about all the things WPL has planned for the upcoming semester!
